📈 ARK Invest Big Ideas: Cathie Wood, the godmother of disruptive innovation investing and founder of ARK Invest, just dropped their annual Big Ideas report on what's moving the money. The TLDR; a lot of AI-fueled innovation (shocking), mixed with some familiar technologies like blockchain. NFTs gave blockchain a bad rap for awhile but we should all want in on its capabilities, especially its potential to democratize ownership in a world where ownership is quickly becoming the determining factor between the haves and have nots.
🎙️ The Literary Crisis is Scaring Me: Nothing is hotter than being literate and reading for pleasure / self growth / to stay informed!!! We’re all seeing the viral clips of people who can’t pronounce silhouette, cataclysmic or deity and while, yes, kinda funny, WAY MORE SCARY! This is why we’re in uninformed internet opinion hell. Also, nothing is more irritating than people not applying themselves when you know what they’re capable of. Talk your sh*t, Recho. You know we’re always listening.
The Will To Change by Bell Hooks: We love loling over the whole “men are broken” takes just as much as the next gal who has their shit together, but on a deep level, we reject the idea of an inherent badness of men. This book creates not only empathy for any male-hating narrative but also so much information on how the patriarchal structure we live in hurts both genders deeply.
Sabeena Ladha’s two part “What Happened with DEUX” series: Sabeena founded DEUX, the yummy better for you donut holes that we add to our carts weekly on Whole Foods runs. She launched a Substack dropping all the tea on her departure from the brand and wow do we feel seen. She describes working through all the feelings of high expectations, grind culture, the identity shift that comes with motherhood, trauma and everything in between. Definitely worth the subscription and can’t wait to read more from her.
